| 나는 모방 욕구가 강렬하게 투영된 장신구들을 수집한다. 특정 계층이나 특정 집단의 과시를 모방하기 위한 것들로 사실상 ‘진짜가 아닌 것’, 우리가 흔히 말하는 ‘짝퉁’인 것이다. 그렇게 수집한 ‘짝퉁’을 틀을 만들어 수백개씩 복제하고, 복제된 것들을 조합해서 이 세상에 단 하나뿐인 장신구를 만든다. 이 과정에서 나는 화려하고 아름다운 최상의 작품을 만들기 위해 최선을 다한다. unoriginal이었던 수집품들이 독창성을 부여받는 것이다. 나는 현대사회의 과장된 소비 패턴에 회의감을 느꼈고, 거대한 소비 사이클의 방향을 거꾸로 돌려 역설을 만든다. | |||

| I started my work by collecting pieces of jewellery that were imitations of other original designs. These imitations are pretentious - created from the public’s desire to take a step closer to the world above them. With my abundant collection of such imitations, I created replicates of these and merged them into a single piece of art. During the process, I focussed on retaining the flamboyance that each of the imitations held before they were merged into a pot. I have been sceptical about the latest spending patterns that have been so ostentatious to the extent that they completely clouded the originality and creativity of our minds. My work shows originality being created from unoriginality and at the same time carries a satirical message to the consumption patterns of the modern world. When would the “imitation and assimilation” come to a halt and the public realize that they are caught in a vicious cycle? | |||
