도마의 기능은 식재료의 칼질을 위해 받침대 역활을 하는게 본연의 기능이다. 하지만 음식의 종류와 형태가 다양 해 져, 기능의 변화가 생겼나기 시작했다. 제주도에서는 도마에서 칼질을 하고 식탁 위까지 바로 올리는 '돔배고기'라고 하는 문화도 있다. 이 작품은 칼질 외에 상차림까지 고려하여 손잡이의 그립감을 강조하였다. |
