서울에서 신의주까지 쭉 뻗은 경의선개통은 분단 반세기만에 대륙으로 가는 첫 길을 열어주는 역사적인 사건이다. 끊어졌던 민족 대동맥이 마침내 55 년간의 잠에서 깨어나는 순간을 맞이하게 된것이다. 본 작품은 경의선 문산 역사에 위치한 만남의 광장으로 원래 한핏줄이었던 민족의 동맥의 연결을 조형화하였다. 분단을 뛰어넘어 화해와 공존의 시대를 기원하며 한 민족, 한 핏줄의 정기를 형상화하고 맥을 형상화한 공간을 통하여서, 공간의 이용자들은 만남과 한민족의 위상을 느끼며 서로 소통할 것이다. 전 세계 다른 국가와 달리 단일 민족 국가인 한민족인 우리에게는 민족의 피가 흐르고 있다. 하나의 혈연관계라는 특성을 살려 흐름과 소통이라는 점을 주안점으로 두었다. 이 공간은 한민족의 혼을 되새겨주는 역할을 담당하게 될 것이다. |

Beyond tragic division of Korea, turning into the era of peaceful coexistence.’ An opening ceremony of ‘Seoul-Shinijoo’ rail road was a historical event to open the way through the entire Korean peninsula. The broken vein of Korea was finally recovered by this rail road since fifty five years of territorial division. My work illustrates a park, in which entire Koreans come to meet each other, symbolizing the reconnection of entire Korean race. The work describes the unity of Korean race and in this space people can communicate each other, feeling intimate emotion. Focusing on the fact that all Koreans were indeed members of the same nation, this work is based on the concept of unity and reconnection by using veins as a primary element. This space would play a role to remind people of the spirit of Korean race. |
